Introduction

For homework, we were given the task to sketch out our magazine covers, make headlines, draw the font we use, etc. For this assignment, because my genre is food, I decided to draw a specific Turkish food you see all over turkey. Doner, or Gyro as American's call it. I've been really excited about this portion of my magazine production and I'm hoping it's at least a good sketch and color.

The Sketch

Explanation

  • My magazine cover includes its Headlines, Masthead, Puff, Date, and Barcode. It also has a list of food that will be included in the magazine. I chose to draw a Gyro because of its popularity in Turkish cuisine, especially as a street food. I will be writing about different breakfast's like Kumpir and Kuymak as also lunch and dinner like Manti and Doner.

  • I specifically placed the headlines on the side to make room for the illustration and the table of contents below to let the reader be informed on what will be included on the magazine. Next, I drew the Masthead on the top with the font I picked on my last post to boldly bring the name to attention with its big letters and deep outline. I also included the date of when the illustration was made as a production date, and also included a bar code. Finally, I doodled some illustrations and added a design at the bottom to liven up the cover.
